Anime Review: Rumbling hearts
Review Rumbling hearts aka Kimi Ga Nozomu Eien
Takayki is a lazy high school student who just flows through life without a plan. One day his friend Mitsuki tells him to go to a local hill after school. Instead of meeting Mitsuki there like he was expecting, Haruka shows up and asks him if she would be his boyfriend. After wavering for a while he agrees and the two start dating. Mitsuki wasn't entirely honest with Takayuki as it appears that she has feelings for him as well. There is more to the story but that would be a huge spoiler for episode 2.
Kimi ga nozomu eien is based on a dating sim. This show is better than any other shows of this type that I have seen as it manages to stick to a plot instead of bouncing around trying to introduce a half dozen or more girls. It is also a very moving and dramatic story with realistic and engaging characters. The other thing the bears mentioning is this show has perhaps the best love triangle I have ever seen. Where as most love triangles are blatantly obvious when you try to figure out who is going to end up together. This show keeps you guessing until the very end.
The animation for Kimi ga nozomu eien is good. There is plenty of bright colors and the overall quality is what you would expect for what Japanese television puts out these days.
Kimi ga nozomu eien is currently available only through fansubs. This is one of the best romance anime I have ever seen and in my opinion it vindicates the idea of transferring a dating sim into an anime show. I give Kimi ga nozomu eien a rating of excellent.
