Anime Review: Haunted Junction

With a name like haunted junction you would probably expect a scary show. Not this time. If anything expect to laugh or be offended.
Haruto Hojo is the president of the Saito High school holy student council. This is partially because he is the son of a minister but really because he was tricked into it. You see the school is haunted and Haruto doesn't like anything that would interrupt a normal life . To help Haruto maintain order is Kazumi, son of a Buddhist monk, and Mutsuki, daughter of a Shinto priestess and the seven school spirits which Haruto can summon through pins. In reality none of these people are much help at all, at least in the terms of keeping things quiet.
Haunted Junction is a good if somewhat pedestrian comedy. The big problem with the show is that it isn't something for the easily offended. This goes beyond the simple "anime has sex and violence" trope even though this show has it. First off some people may be offended by the portrayal of religion even though the three main characters are shown sympathetically. An even bigger problem is Mutsuki's shouta complex which is little more than pedophilia used for comic purposes. If you can put up with this Haunted junction is a fine show. The humor tends to the simple side and the show isn't plot heavy. You can find the whole thing subtitled only in a dvd box for only 40$.
