Anime Review: Video Girl Ai
Review Video Girl Ai Written by Warpshadow Rating very good
One of the traits of either an experienced anime watcher or just someone old and cranky is the belief that at least sometimes shows aren't as good as they used to be. If this is the case Video Girl Ai is one the older and generally better titles of the romance stories for guys genre.
Yota Moteuchi is a young man with a problem This problem is that the woman he loves, Moemi, is smitten with his best friend Takashi. To snap himself out his depression he goes to a video store and rents a video. This is no ordinary store and no ordinary video as the girl in the video, Ai Amano, steps out of Yota's television into real life. Unfortunately as there was some problems with Yota's VCR Ai is not the perfect girl she was on the video. Nonetheless, she resolves to set Yota up with Moemi, because Video girls can't fall in love, can they?
Video girl Ai is a good romance title. The characters are presented in a realistic and complex way with a good deal of character development. There are numerous songs scattered about the show as well as a good helping of Omake material. Although I can't really fault it that much since it is only a six episode Oav based on a much longer manga series, the ending feels inconclusive. Other than that there is nothing wrong with the show. Well except for the fact it may give you a serious desire to pick up the manga but the maker of the Oav probably intended it that way.
