Lost in the annals of time are old school anime shows. While the art isn't high tech or flashy there are a good deal of fun shows to watch. Future boy Conan is a prime example of this.

In the near future electromagnetic weapons have destroyed most of the earth. On a remote island a spaceship that tried to escape the destruction crashed and the survivors had to live there. Years later all of them died except for One scientist and Conan, an extremely strong boy that was born there. One day while bringing back some fish someone new washes up on the island, and It is a girl. Her name is Lana. Unfortunately trouble, namely the country of Industria has followed Lana and it wants her to go with them.

Future boy Conan is an archaic television show that still has a good deal of redeeming qualities. Being made in the seventies and not a movie the animation is sub par when you consider today's standards. Even the show's director the renowned Hayao Miyazaki couldn't change that fact. Speaking of Miyazaki his storytelling style is very evident throughout the show. The plot and characters are presented in a simple manner and yet the show is devoid of the plot holes and general dumbing down that many shows aimed at children exhibit. If you can look past the dated animation you will be in for a treat.
