Anime Review: Samurai X the movie
Review Samurai X the movie AKA Ruroni Kenshin Requiem for Ishin Patriots Written by Warpshadow Rating good/ very good
Ruroni Kenshin (Samurai X with the materials acquired by ADV) has a lot of filler material attached to it. While it isn't as good as the material based off of the manga but it still is sort of fun to watch. As can be expected of a supplementary movie this is filler material.
The Meiji revolution that Kenshin fought in over a decade ago left permanent scars in the lives of many people. When Kenshin and his friends take a trip to Yokohama he meets a swordsman there who can not let go of his past. His name is Shigure Takimi and he can not forget his lost friend who was killed by Kenshin in his days as the Battosai. With a British ambassador visiting Japan There is a chance for great chaos, an opportunity for any who hate the current government. What will the price for being tied to the past be?
The Samurai X movie is enjoyable filler for anyone who likes Ruroni Kenshin, on par with some of the filler episodes in the television series. It has the requisite battles, angst about the current government and all the things that go into Ruroni Kenshin What sets this movie apart for me is the scenes focusing on Yahiko who's history is largely ignored in the television show. While it isn't great if you like Ruroni Kenshin enough to watch all the episodes I suggest you pick up this movie.
