Anime Review: Galerians Rion
Review Galerians Rion Written by Warpshadow Rating poor/fair
Action movies are as hard to make well as any other genre of movie. When done well they take a hold of you and don't let go. When they aren't they are a collection of meandering fights and cars chases that don't make any sense, sort of like Galerians.
A boy wakes up in a strange facility with no knowledge or memories other than the fact that his name is Rion. He finds out that he has been given amazing psychic powers which he uses to defeat the guards trying to keep him under control. He finds out that he has a house and the names of his parents. Going their he also finds out that his parents had a special goal for him to complete. He is part of a fail safe to destroy a computer if it gets out of control, which it has.
There is a bit of a blur between video games and anime in some shows. With Galerians the show feels like it is a cheesy rpg game without all the button pressing. The story is a series of fights with a plot twist between each one, like a video game plot. The characters are stale and one dimensional. The high point of the show is the CG animation which exists show Rion blowing things up with his psychic powers. Honestly you are better off actually getting a video game and playing it instead of watching this show.
