Anime Review: Kai doh maru
Review Kai doh maru Written by Warpshadow Rating poor
Anime first and foremost is a medium to tell stories with. Thus it is very important that an anime show like any other show remember to remain coherent. Flying of the handle may be okay for comedies but Kai doh maru isn't the kind of movie that you get when you are looking for laughs.
In the early Heian era there lived a girl named Kintoki. Due to the ambitions of her uncle her parents were killed and she was hunted down as well. Luckily for her she is rescued by a man named Raiko who takes her in and trains her to be a warrior and is renamed Kai doh maru. Kintoki's past is not something that will stay in the past as people start to threaten the capital that Raiko is sworn to protect and Kintoki has vowed to stay by his side.
Kai do maru is very possibly based on some old novel or at least I hope so otherwise I will never make sense of this story. The best way I can sum up the experience of watching this movie is to imagine that you are watching a two hour long movie but you are extremely tired and drifting in and out of consciousness. In other words it feels as though huge chunks of the movie that would have explained things or at least given the movie enough time to catch it's breath are missing. There is no reason to see this movie what so ever.
