Review Lord of Lords Ryu knight Adeus legend Written by Warpshadow Rating fair/ good

Fantasy and Mecha are two flavors that can go together quite well. That statement requires a show to have something at least somewhat interesting in either the fantasy or the mecha department. Sadly Ryu knight has neither.

Twenty years ago the evil lord Uongaldis was defeated by the legendary heroes. The key to his return is Princess Paffy who is hounded by demons wherever she goes. Elsewhere a young boy named Adeu travels the land with his teacher, a powerful swordsman named Giltz. Giltz might not be the hero that Adeu thinks he is and in a conflict with a knight the two are separated leaving Adeu with ownership of the mech known as the Ryu knight.

Ryu Knight is a by the numbers fantasy anime with mecha thrown in. All the characters are fantasy archetypes and looks like it is trying to copy Record of Lodoss war in many instances. The only somewhat original idea is the mechs and even they generally look too silly to be taken seriously. The animation is well done for an older show, I would say it is the best part of Ryu knight. While it may be good for some old school kicks most people probably won't enjoy this show all that much.
