Anime Review: Kodocha
Review Kodochaaka Kodomo no OmochaWritten by WarpshadowRating very good/ excellent
I usually wait until I have seen the entire series before I write a review for a show but Kodocha was just too good for me to wait around for the series to finish before I had to tell everyone about it.
Sana Kurata is a hyperactive eleven year old child actress with one big problem. Her classroom has been turned into a den of chaos by the boys especially their monkey boss, Akito Hayama. You would think that just one boy wouldn’t be so much of a problem but Akito has dirt on the teachers. It may look hard for Sana but she has the help of her mother as well as her manager and sort of boyfriend Rei in addition to her bottomless well of exuberance to solve any problem.
Kodocha is a show that is able to blend comedy and drama together with amazing skill. The comedy keeps the drama from becoming to heavy for viewers and yet stays on topic without having the show drift off to pointless jokes land. The other main draw of the show is the characters. First and foremost is the main character Sana who is flexible enough to not only be likable but to also be the lionshare of the comic relief. She is contrasted nicely by the troubled and constantly cool character that is Akito. That is not to say that the rest of the cast is anything to sneeze at. There are small problems with the show foremost being dated animation and lack of consistency (which to be fair is just about impossible to maintain in a series of this length).
