Four hundred years ago the great ninja Hanzo Kagemori pledged to protect the Konyaku family and the Kagemori family has been bound to that pledge So in the present day Mamoru Kagemori has been given the duty of protecting protecting his neighbor Yuna. You would think that would be an easy job but Yuna happens to be a grade A idiot and trouble magnet so Mamoru has his hands full trying to take care of her. On top of that Mamoru's life keeps becoming more complicated as several martial artist females start taking interest in him.

Kage Kara Mamoru may look like another stupid harem show at first and for the most part that is a fair assessment however there are small things that keep this show worth watching. For instance the titular character deftly avoids being the loser that most leads in this type of show are even if he does look like a geek (note those glasses are just a disguise). Characterization among Mamoru's would be girlfriends is somewhat sparse and mostly used for humor. Even though the ending of the show hints at the possibility of a continuation the show's premise is well mined in the twelve episodes that is runs. Kage Kara Mamoru isn't really that good or that bad it is just that there are a lot of shows out there and this is fairly forgettable.
