Review Legend of Condor HeroWritten by WarpshadowRating very good

This show was made in Japan for Japanese consumption so this is anime even if it has Chinese dialogue in it. Regardless of that fact this is a neat look into the world of ancient kung fu stories.

The story begins when Guo Jing takes Yang Gor to study at the Chuinjun temple to learn kung fu. Through a misunderstanding the monks confuse the two for bandits Even after the confusion is cleared up and Yang Gor is taken to be disciple the monks still refuse to teach him. One day while wondering he finds a tomb and sees a beautiful woman living there. She is named the dragon lady little do either of them know at the time but their destinies are intertwined.

Despite being misnamed (this is actually the animated version of Return of Condor Hero which is a different novel in the same trilogy) is a look into the Wuxia genre of martial arts that is far more in depth than the kung fu movies of the genre that are available in the west. For those of you not in the know Wuxia is a style of Chinese story about high powered supernatural martial arts action set in ancient times. This is not to say that this show is all about fighting. At it's core Legend of Condor Hero is also a romantic story about ill fated love was well as a kung fu fighting show. Legend of Condor Hero is a good show and a nice change of pace from your typical anime action show.
