Review Final Fantasy VII Advent ChildrenWritten by WarpshadowRating very good

The average viewer probably won't think Final Fantasy VII Advent Children is a particularly deep movie but then again the average viewer will be too distracted by the action to care. Not like that is a bad thing.

It has been two years since Cloud and company have saved the earth from Sepriroth as seen in the game Final Fantasy 7. While our heroes have settled down to a semi-normal life enemies from the past have emerged to cause trouble again. This foe is a man with white hair and green eyes named Kadaj who seeks Jenova in order for a reunion. Whatever that is it doesn't sound good and thus there is no way Cloud and friends are going to let that happen.

Final Fantasy 7 was a very popular game and this movie is largely an act of fan service to those that enjoyed it (and I am included in that group), The animation in this movie is an utterly superb grade of computer animation. It looks almost photo-realistic. It is so good that I recommend watching it in Japanese because it has realistic lip flaps. To mention that there is a lot of action and fighting in this movie and a lot of attention is paid to said fights. I found the plot to be rather sketchy and basic and little attention is paid to the character's personalities. This would be a major negative in most movies but the purpose of the movie is to cater to Final Fantasy fans who already know the characters and to look pretty so it is forgivable. Overall it's a nice movie especially if you like the game.
