Review Shakugan no ShanaWritten by WarpshadowRating good/ very good

Shakugan no Shana is a slightly above average action show and after thinking about it for a while I thought that in reality that is all the show really needed to be in order to be fun.

Yuji Sekai is dead. He or rather a temporary fragment of himself learned of this fact one day when attacked by a monster that ate the very existence of people and was in a way saved by a girl with flaming hair. The girl as Yuji learns is a flame haze, someone tasked with making sure too many existences are destroyed which would destroy the balance of the universe. However there is more trouble where that monster came and the flame haze which Yuji names Shana decides to stay with him for the time being.

A few ideas are as common in anime as a supernatural fighting show and Shakugan no Shana definitely fits that description. While the premise has been nearly done to death it is brought back to life by a cast of characters that might not be entirely original but click. The antagonists are also spaced out enough to give the show room to breathe with is often not the case in monster of the week shows. It also makes the battles that do occur sufficiently epic as they don’t have to go from set up to finish in a twenty minute timeframe. In short Shakugan no Shana is worth watching simply because it is a show that is worth watching simply because it doesn’t suck.
