Anime Review: Hidamari Sketch
Review Hidamari SketchWritten by WarpshadowRating good/ very good
Slice of life shows are not for all anime fans although I feel that Hidamari sketch is one of those shows that may appeal to a slightly broader audience than most.
Yuuno always wanted to be an artist and thus chose to atten Yamabuki arts academy. Since the school is far away from her home she lives in the school’s housing (Hidamari apartments) while she goes to school. Her best friends are her fellow tenants Miyako, Hiro and Sae. This show chronicles a year in the lives of these girls with each episode taking place in a different month.
Hidamari Sketch is a slice of life comedy about ordinary life. If you watch this show expect nothing beyond a show that is fairly funny and slightly heart warming and rather cute. One that seperates this show from most of it’s genre is that it is filled with rather odd visual images. A good example of this is Yuuno’s alarm clock which is taken from pictures of a real alarm clock put in rather than looking like a cartoon clock. The episodes happen out of order although this has only a slight bearing on the show as small facts but not on the overall plot. I myself am not a big fan of the slice of life genre but I do enjoy Hidamari Sketch and would recommend it.
