Anime Review: Soul Taker
Review Soul TakerWritten by WarpshadowRating good/ very good
Soul Taker is an interesting sort of show and one that may be well worth watching if you like super powered battles served with a side of mind screw.
Any semblance of normalcy disappeared from the life of Kyosuke Date the day his mother stabbed him in the chest. Instead of dieing the event triggered a transformation into a powerful creature known as the Soul Taker. With no other family he searches for his lost sister Runa. That makes him the enemies of an organization of mutants called the hospital and their backers the Kirihara group who also have an interest in Runa and people called flickers who are actually shards of Runa’s soul.
At first look this show likes like your somewhat average dark superhero show although if that is all you think it is you haven’t been looking too closely. The main reason I say this is that this show has innovative and down right bizarre imagery coming out it’s metaphorical wazoo. As for the whys behind the happenings that make up the show they are kept under tight lock and key even after the first few episodes which follow a monster of the week format. Even after that the show is generally confusing but still kind of cool. Really weird but still inexplicably awesome at the same time are the words that I believe best describe Soul Taker and if that description interests you hunting down some dvds of this show may be in order.
