To put it simply Karas is an action show. Watch it if you want to see some guy fight and don’t really need to see anything else at the time.

The city of Tokyo is the home of millions of people but also the unseen spirits. When the city’s spiritual inhabitants overstep their bounds it is up to Karas, a Human who has made a contract with the spirit of the city, to set things right. Lately a new problem has arisen for Karas. The Mikura, spirits who have merged with machines and crave human blood stalk the city. These new monsters are in fact just the surface of a plot that will decide the fate of everyone that lives in the city.

Although it was originally made as a six episode Oav it’s American release (which is the material I used to write this review) presents it as two movie length chunks. As a pure, full throttle action show Karas succeeds fairly well as fight scenes are plentiful and computer graphics are utilized to their best effect. In terms of things such as plot and character development Karas fits somewhere between skimpy and poor since the creators seemed to want to concentrate on the action and left the rest to be something of a jumbled mess. Then again it looks like the so called plot of this story is little more than cut scenes that string the fights together. So if you want to see a but of cool looking computer animation and action this is worth watching but otherwise not.
