Anime Review: Kurau Phantom Memory
Review Kurau Phantom MemoryWritten by WarpshadowRating very good
Science fiction doesn’t have to be about giant lasers or some difficult concept. Given with weird energy aliens the story still be about people (even if they are weird energy aliens).
When Dr. Amamiya invited his daughter Kurau to see his experiments on Rynax energy a freak accident occurred which left Kurau with a new identity. She called herself Rynax a being which took residence in her body. The event also left Kurau with superhuman powers. Flash-forward ten years and Kurau is putting those powers to good use as a freelance agent. One day an event that Kurau had been waiting for occurred, her Ryanx pair heald to the point that she could exist separately from Given the nativity of Christmas (the name of Kurau’s pair) It doesn’t take long before news of the two reaches the GPO and the two have to go into hiding.
Kurau Phantom memory is a science fiction series with numerous action scences but this is a different sort of science fiction series. The main difference is that instead of focusing on the before mentioned action scenes or some unusual metaphysical idea the focus is mostly on the characters. Even more unusual is the fact that most of these relationships are not romantic in nature, for example the two main characters, Kurau and Christmas, are more like sisters than anything else. While this is a well above average show note should be taken that this is by no means a roller coaster ride but a drama piece with action to provide impetus for the main characters. Even with all the red flags I have put up I recommend Kurau Phantom memory as a good and rather different anime series.
