Anime Review: Chaos Head
Review Chaos HeadWritten by WarpshadowRating good/ very good
Many ren ai game adaptations have indecisive male protagonists but at least this one has reason for it beyond stretching out the show to fit a certain number of episodes.
Takumi Nishijou is a young man with no self confidence. He spends most of his days in a shipping container surrounded by anime figures, online games and his imaginary girlfriend Seira. One day he received an online message about a string of gruesome murders called the New Gene incidents. He gets even more entwined in them when he sees a girl nailing a corpse to a wall. The next day at school he finds that the girl he met is Rimi, one of his classmates. Exactly who is this Rimi and how does she figure into the greater conspiracy?
Chaos Head is an interesting sort of show, it's a psychological horror show with dating sim element (most of the cast is comprised of cute girls who for some reason like Takumi). This show takes the idea of a passive male lead and takes it to the next level but uses it more than just an excuse for him to refrain from picking out a girl to date until the end of the season. This show does have some tone dissonance to it as the first few episodes play as straight horror but the show evolves into more of an action show with the cast wielding impossible magic swords, as can be seen in the opening credits. Even so I found Chaos Head to be an interesting show that I would recommend.
