K On is kind of like a marshmellow, it is sweet and fluffy but lacking in substance. You may like this sort of thing but don’t expect too much out of it.
Yui Hirasawa is a somewhat lazy and generally clueless girl who has done nothing of note. When she reaches high school she decides to finally join a club when she attends high school. She mills around but is lured into something called the light music club by promises of frequent snacks. The thing is the group needs four members to have an official club but as of current there is only three people. However will Yui ever become a great guitarist if all the group ever does is sit around the club room and have snacks?
K On is one of the latest examples of the slice of life genre of anime with a handy serving of cute service and some comedy as well. While this show has some good points this show is a bit problematic in that just about all of them are repeated to the point that the show is almost driven into the ground. This is most obvious in that after episode seven the episodes start repeating themselves thematically. If you are looking for a music themed show K on is almost depressingly sparse for a story about girls forming a band. Overall I found this show to be only good for light entertainment.
