Anime Review: Kannagi
Review KannagiWritten by WarpshadowRating very good
Kannagi is not a revolutionary show but romantic comedies in anime are plentiful and this is one of the better shows of that genre.
When Jin Mikuirya used wood from a tree that was on a shrine he was expecting to make a normal art project. He wasn’t expecting that the statue he created to take on human form but that is what happened. The girl that appeared was Nagi, who claimed that she was the goddess of the shire were Jin got his materials who has to continue with her godly duties even in human form which include hunting impurities with a plastic magical girl wand that Jin bought at the store. Even with Nagi’s claim she has a personality that one would hardly call divine.
Kannagi is a romantic comedy that uses the common story idea of a normal boy and his very magical would be girlfriend. Even though this show covers well tread territory this show is simply put together more cleverly than your average romantic comedy. Even the small details such as filler episodes, side characters and dialogue are crafted with care. Even Nagi herself is more nuanced than your average female lead in this type of show as even in moments that she could be classified tsundere Nagi is simply selfish or difficult compared to the usual specimen which is criminally abusive. If you like the romantic comedy genre at all I suggest you watch this show sooner or later.
