Many slice of life comedies have the problem of being without much substance but this one seems to take that cake and have some creepy frosting on top.

Kana Nakamichi is a shy and emotionally fragile middle school girl who has just lost her grandmother, her only relative. Lost without anywhere to go Kana wanders the streets until she runs across a newspaper delivery center. Although she is initially shocked by the people that work there but eventually she warms up to them and begins working there as a paper girl. This is only the beginning for Kana as she starts to realize that delivering papers every day is a much harder job that it would first appear to be.

Kanamemo is a slice of life sort of show that tries to entertain it’s audience with a combination of humor and attempts at emotional appeal. This show shares one of the main problems of it’s genre in that it has a cast of characters each has one joke attached to them that gets played over and over. What’s even worse is that one of characters (Haruka) has the particular niche of being a pedophile so some of the jokes can start to creep out the viewers instead of making them laugh. Also Kana’s propensity towards emotional fragility is a bit overdone causing her to be a less likable character. Other than that this is a very mediocre show that holds little to any really value for most viewers.
